Vaiśampāyana said: Having seen them live there for an entire year, happy and unsuspecting, Purocana was extremely delighted.
वैशम्पायन ने कहा: उन्हें वहां पूरे एक वर्ष तक खुश और निःशंकित रहते हुए देखकर, पुरोचन को बहुत खुशी हुई।
Witnessing Purocana's delight, Yudhiṣṭhira, Kuntī's virtuous son, spoke to Bhīmasena, Arjuna and the twins.
पुरोचन की प्रसन्नता देखकर कुंती के धर्मात्मा पुत्र युधिष्ठिर ने भीमसेन, अर्जुन और जुड़वाँ बच्चों से बात की।
"The cruelhearted and evil Purocana thinks us to be trusting and has been deceived well. I think the time has come for our escape.
"क्रूरहृदय और दुष्ट पुरोकाना सोचता है कि हम भरोसा कर रहे हैं और उसे अच्छा धोखा दिया गया है। मुझे लगता है कि हमारे भागने का समय आ गया है।
Let us escape, unobserved by anyone, after setting fire to the armoury, burning Purocana to death and leaving six bodies here."
आइए हम शस्त्रागार में आग लगाकर, पुरोकाना को जलाकर मार डालने और छह शवों को यहां छोड़कर, किसी की नजर में आए बिना, भाग जाएं।''
O king! On the occasion of giving alms, Kuntī fed a large number of Brāhmana-s in the night. A number of women also came.
हे राजा! दान देने के अवसर पर कुंती ने रात में बड़ी संख्या में ब्राह्मणों को भोजन कराया। काफी संख्या में महिलाएं भी आईं।

O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! They enjoyed themselves and ate and drank as muc as they wished. When it was night, with Mādhavī's permission, they returned home.
हे भरत वंश के वंशज! उन्होंने आनंद लिया और अपनी इच्छानुसार खूब खाया-पीया। जब रात हुई तो माधवी की अनुमति से वे घर लौट आये।
Driven by destiny and in search of food, a hunter woman also happened to come to the feast, accompanied by her five sons.
नियति से प्रेरित होकर और भोजन की तलाश में, एक शिकारी महिला भी अपने पांच बेटों के साथ दावत में आई।
All of them drank wine, until, with her sons, she was completely drunk. O ruler of men! She and her sons lost their senses and slept in that house, as if dead.

When everyone was asleep and a violent storm started in the night, Bhīmā started a fire at the spot where Purocana was sleeping.

The intense heat and great roar of the fire soon became manifest and awoke a large number of the citizens.

The citizens said: "Under Duryodhana's instructions, the evil-minded one built this house for his own destruction.

Curse on Dhṛtarāṣṭra, whose intelligence isn't impartial. He has burnt to death Pāṇḍu's pure sons, as if they are his enemies.

As fate would have it, that evil-hearted and evil-minded one has burnt those innocent and unsuspecting ones, supreme among men, and has himself been burnt."
जैसा कि नियति की इच्छा थी, उस दुष्ट-हृदय और दुष्ट-दिमाग वाले व्यक्ति ने उन निर्दोष और संदेहहीन लोगों को, जो मनुष्यों में श्रेष्ठ हैं, जला डाला और स्वयं भी जल गया।"

Vaiśampāyana said: Thus did the citizens of Vāraṇāvata mourn, as they stood around the house throughout that entire night.
वैशम्पायन ने कहा: इस प्रकार वारणावत के नागरिक शोक मना रहे थे, क्योंकि वे पूरी रात घर के चारों ओर खड़े रहे।
However, with their mother, the grieving Pāṇḍava-s emerged through the tunnel and fled quickly, unobserved.

With his great strength, the valorous one carried his mother on his shoulder, the twins on his hips and his brothers, the two Pārtha-s, on his arms.

He shattered the trees with force and pounded the earth with his feet. The energetic Vṛkodara rushed on, with the violence of a storm.
